Stepping Numbers
For over five years now, I have been tracking my steps daily and I enjoy looking over the numbers. This section breaks down some of those numbers from this week and cumulative for the year.
High & Low Days
The high day of the week with the most steps was Wednesday, with 20,903 steps.
The low day of the week with the least steps was Tuesday, with 17,688 steps.
Weekly Totals
Throughout the week, I met my daily step target on 7 out of 7 days. I walked 136,489 steps for the week with an average of 19,498 steps per day for the week.
Year to Date
With the steps I have walked this week, I now have 1,603,305 steps for the year. That places me around 226,491 steps more than the same time last year. The goal for the year is 7 million steps. There is another 41 weeks to go I need 5,396,695 steps or 131,626 steps per week.
This Time Last Year
I also find it interesting to look back to last year and see a comparison for the week and year to date progress.
So let’s look at the step details from week 12 in 2019. I walked 107,273 steps, giving me an average of 15,324 steps per day. Overall, I have walked 29,216 more steps in week 12 this year.
The highest day for the week saw me walk, 18,872 steps, a difference of 2,031 fewer steps than this year. While the lowest day for the week saw me walk, 10,778 steps a difference of 6,910 fewer steps than this year.

Other Thoughts
Like last week, I am a week behind getting this post compiled. The data is always there, it just takes a little time to put it into my spreadsheet and copy it across here. Hopefully, from next week I will be back on track to keeping up the weekly rhythm.
There is nothing special in the numbers this week. When you look back at the same week last year though, it was a rough one. There was just one day when I missed my target and it was with a low of just over 10,000 steps. The lowest single day since week 27, 2015, when I walked just 6,456 steps one day. The other record on the low end for week 12 last year was the average per day, which came to just 15,324 steps per day.
I hope that you can still find a time and place to walk with the unfolding COVID-19 situation at the moment. If you have the ability, getting outside for a walk can be a great way to break up the day. However, please keep in mind not to break quarantine or self isolation requirements. Also, be sure you are aware of any localised restrictions and follow the government directives.
