Stepping Numbers
For over five years now, I have been tracking my steps daily and I enjoy looking over the numbers. This section breaks down some of those numbers from this week and cumulative for the year.
High & Low Days
The high day of the week with the most steps was Friday, with 22,592 steps.
The low day of the week with the least steps was Tuesday, with 18,006 steps.
Weekly Totals
Throughout the week, I met my daily step target on 7 out of 7 days. I walked 138,052 steps for the week with an average of 19,721 steps per day for the week.
Year to Date
With the steps I have walked this week, I now have 1,741,357 steps for the year. That places me around 233,440 steps more than the same time last year. The goal for the year is 7 million steps. There is another 40 weeks to go I need 5,258,643 steps or 131,466 steps per week.
This Time Last Year
I also find it interesting to look back to last year and see a comparison for the week and year to date progress.
So let’s look at the step details from week 13 in 2019. I walked 131,103 steps, giving me an average of 18,729 steps per day. Overall, I walked 6,949 steps less than this year.
The highest day for the week saw me walk, 22,883 steps a difference of 291 more than this year. While the lowest day for the week saw me walk, 15,160 steps a difference of 2,846 fewer steps than this year.

Other Thoughts
I have caught up my weekly updates now, and this one comes only two days late. Moving forward I hope to stay on track with getting the updates out on time now.
Towards the beginning of the week I passed 200 days since I last missed my daily walking goal of 15,000 steps. It is one statistic I had in my mind, but had been not paying much attention to until today. The end of the week sees me at 206 days in a row walking 15,000 steps or more. Looking forward, I suspect that I will keep this streak going for the rest of the year. Considering my goal for the year, missing the daily step goal would not be positive.
With the unfolding COVID-19 situation around the world and in Australia, the places I walk have changed a little. While I had some plans for several more extensive walks throughout this year, they are now on hold. I am spending much more time walking around in and around the house.
Over the coming weeks I want to detail in several posts some of how I am getting my walking in with the COVID-19 situation. Where I am walking and how I am improvising to work within the guidelines that the government is putting in place. Just remember that the health and safety of yourself, your family and other community members is paramount. So if you are under quarantine or self isolation requirements you need to stick to them, you can always come back to walking at a future time.
