Walking Thoughts for March
March turned out to be a very different month to what I expected. I knew that I would still work towards my goal for the year but had made no other plans. Somewhere along the way I lost track of what was going on a bit and missed updates on two weeks stats. In part, this relates to me being a little slack in getting it done. However, there is also the large distraction too many of the global Coronavirus pandemic.
The first unexpected occurrence was my total step count. Without thought or planning, it turns out that I broke my record for my highest steps in a month. I set the record back in October 2015 with 602,989 steps. Because of being a little behind on updating the statistics for two weeks, it was not until the 30th of March that I realised how close I was to breaking this record. I walked 603,479 this month and broke the record by just 510 steps.
In January when I missed the record by around 3,500 steps I would have said that it requires planning. But this month showed that sometimes things can just land in place in the right way. Looking forward considering that I only passed the goal by a small amount, I will likely pass it again this year sometime.
On another note, looking forward my plans will change a little this year. I had been looking into some much longer multi day walks. However, because of the current situation with COVID-19 in Australia, this will get put off for some time. With many restrictions on movement and interstate travel, I will stay closer to home and my regular daily walks for now.
